The Northumberland Humane Society offers an Animal Foster program to provide a temporary home for an animal in need before they find their permanent homes. The NHS provides all supplies needed to foster including food, dishes, litter, litterbox, blankets, towels and a crate if necessary. In addition, the NHS also supplies medications and prescription diets if necessary.
Applying to Become an Animal Foster Parent:
Complete the Foster Home Application located here or pick up an application at the NHS at 371 Ward St in Port Hope. All applicants must meet the necessary requirements and all volunteers suitable for the program will be contacted.
Foster Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must fill in the Foster Home Application.
Volunteers looking to foster who are under the age of 18 years, must have parent approval.
Volunteer must have time to care for foster animals.
Volunteers must have access to a vehicle.
Volunteers must abide by the foster agreement signed upon joining the program.
